Carolina Coach John Fox Wants To Be Fired?

If you read this article over at PFT, you get the sense that Carolina Panthers coach John Fox wants to be fired. He’s even accused of mutiny. Last time I checked that’s a accusation made in the milatary, not in the NFL. After all, there is no possible way Coach Fox can overthrow his bosses, all they’d have to do is fire him.

Carolina’s media seems upset with him because he won’t start Tony Pike. Most of you probably just mumbled the word, who(?), and you are absolutely right. Instead of staring the rookie out of Cincinnati, he’ll be starting Brian St. Pierre and some of you are probably mumbling that word again. He’s 30 and has played in the NFL before but obviously, he wasn’t too successful.

I don’t want to defend John Fox, per se, but maybe he won’t start the rookie because maybe, just maybe, he sucks. Simple and plain. A lot of coaches would rather have a veteran who’s at least been around for a while than an iffy rookie who they’ve seen practice since mini-camps and training camp.

Some media are are quick to make assumptions and jump to conclusions. A lot of them just like a good story, even if they have to dramatize situations way more than they should.

Either way, the Panthers will probably lose because their QB, no matter who it is, will probably look horrible. It must suck to be Steve Smith right now.
