Let me start of by saying that I fully understand the business side of the NFL, but for the New Orleans Saints‘ GM Mickey Loomis to not be willing to pay quarterback Drew Brees elite QB money is straight disrespectful. *Stephen A. Smith voice*
Since he’s been in New Orleans, Brees has been playing just as well as the best QB’s in the NFL, not to mention he won the Super Bowl, the Super Bowl MVP, and this past season, he eclipsed Dan Marino’s 27-year old passing record, but apparently, that not enough.
According to Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports, Loomis called Brees a “very good” QB, but he’s not a “great” one. Which explains why the Saints have held up his contract negotiations.
Saints’ owner Tom Benson better wise up real quick and remember how terrible the team was before Brees, and how amazing they’ve been since his arrival. Benson should imply pay this man his money or risk losing his franchise’s lone savior….for good.
