At the start of this year’s NCAA tournament, sports betters nationwide had the #1 seeded North Carolina Tar Heels as the 13-2 odds on favorite for winning the big dance, but with the recent injury to their floor general Kendall Marshall, their chances of winning the National Championship have clearly diminished.
Marshall, who currently averages 7.9 points and 9.7 assists per game, suffered a fractured right wrist during UNC’s 87-73 win over the Creighton Blue Jays this past weekend, making him questionable for Friday’s scheduled game against the #13 Ohio Bobcats.
CBSSports.com’s Jeff Goodman confirmed Monday’s surgery with Dennis Marshall, Kendall’s father. Marshall told CBSSports.com a screw will be inserted in the non-shooting wrist, and the sophomore point guard’s status for Friday will depend on how much pain Kendall can take. -Source
Just when the Tar Heels got back their starting power forward John Henson back from his wrist injury, Marshall goes down with a wrist injury of his own. SMH.
