Despite getting hit the franchise tag, which is basically a one-year deal, and dealing with rumors that the Philadelphia Eagles are willing to trade him, Desean Jackson is keeping it professional through the media.
In fact, he says he’s “honored” that the Eagles designated him the franchise player which means he’ll get paid $9.4 million when he signs the deal:
PFT: “I am honored that the Eagles organization perceives me as a franchise player,” Jackson said in a statement via the Philadelphia Inquirer. “I look forward to getting a long-term deal done soon and being an Eagle for many years to come.”
Maybe he’s telling the truth, or maybe the $9+ million dollars, which is more than he’s made in his first 4 seasons, is enough to keep him happy since he likes blowing money and owes his agent Drew Rosenhaus some money.
